Sincona sale 47, lot 1934

This specimen was lot 1934 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 140 CHF (about US$168 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"LIECHTENSTEIN, Karl Eusebius, 1627-1684. Kreuzer 1629, Troppau. Vorzüglich. (Germany, principality of Liechtenstein, Charles Eusebius, 1627-84, kreuzer of 1629, Troppau mint. Extremely fine.)"

Silesia is considered a German State even tho the province was then under Austrian rule and is now in Poland. This type, listed for 1629 only, is rare like most of the coinage of this locality. The cataloguers at Sincona likely listed this coin under Liechtenstein to appeal to Swiss bidders.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver, this specimen 0.73 g.

Catalog reference: Divo 49, KM 32.
