Ayilyam Thirunal Rama Varma, maharaja of Travancore, ruled 1860-80 and was succeeded by his brother, Visakham Thirunal, who ruled 1880-85 and was succeeded by his nephew Moolam Thirunal (r. 1885-1924). This chuckram, worth 1/28 of a rupee, could have been struck during any of these reigns. After 1901, this denomination was converted to a milled copper coin.
