Tranquebar (17)67 cash
This specimen was lot 2777 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Christian VII, 1766-1808, AE 1 kas, (17)67, bold date, listed as RRRR by Gray; some very light adhesions, VF, RR, ex Solar Collection." The Danish fort at Tranquebar was sold to the British in 1845. During the reign of Christian VI, the lead cash was dropped in favor of a copper coin. As the one and two cash were reduced in weight, the four and ten cash were added to supplement the denominations. This type is listed for 1767-70, 1777 and 1780.
