Stephen Album sale 50, lot 2723

This specimen was lot 2723 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $168. The catalog description[1] noted, "DANISH INDIA: TRANQUEBAR: Frederik III, 1648-1670, lead kas, ND, crowned F3 // HAAB, 'hope', perhaps wishful thinking, bold VF, RR, ex Solar Collection. There was a ship called Haab, but it was not launched until 1673, at Copenhagen, three years after the death of Frederik III, though perhaps it was planned before 1670." The Danish fort at Tranquebar was sold to the British in 1845. This lead cash was struck in over ninety varieties during the reign of Frederik III (died 1670).
