Ticino 1841 6 denari
This specimen was lot 5515 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$241 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Tessin/Ticino. 6 Denari 1841, Bern. Ohne Mzz. Stern. Fast FDC. (Switzerland, canton of Ticino, six denari of 1841, Bern mint, without star mintmark. About Mint State.)"
Ticino was admitted as a canton in 1803, being a subject area heretofore. Coinage commenced in 1813. This type was struck 1813, 1835 and 1841 and is common. In Ticino, 12 denari = one soldo; 20 soldi = one franco, making this coin half a soldo or 1/40 franco. Note the large die cud on this example.
