Stephen Album sale 50, lot 1157

This specimen was lot 1157 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "POLAND: THORN: Jan Kazimierz, 1649–1668, AR ort, 1660, Kopicki-8324, an ort of 18 groschen, a rare type from a scarce location, VF-XF, R, ex Dr. Robert A. Rosenfeld Collection." This denomination, struck at Thorn in various styles 1650-68, seems to be unique to Poland. The SCWC notes that it traded for a quarter thaler but may only have been a fifth.
