This type was struck in 1936 to promote Switzerland's rearmament as European tensions rose before World War Two. In Switzerland's case, the rearmament worked as Hitler never attacked that country. Altho the mintage was a fraction of the 1935 William Tell five francs, it was extensively saved and is common today.
Recorded mintage: 150,000 plus specimens.
Specification: 15 g, 0.835 fine silver, .402 troy oz ASW, 31.45 mm diameter, lettered edge.
