Heritage sale 3064, lot 33874

This specimen was lot 33874 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Confederation Franc 1928-B MS68 PCGS, Bern mint. A near-perfect exemplar with a soft lustrous glow, yet powerfully-struck devices." This type was struck at the Bern mint 1874-1967. The design is still in use today tho the coin is now copper-nickel. This specimen is struck to the standard of the French franc of 1866-1920. Prior to confederation in 1850, each Swiss canton issued its own coins.

Recorded mintage: 1,500,000 plus specimens, the first common date.

Specification: 5 g, 0.835 fine silver, 23.2 mm diameter, reeded edge.
