This specimen was lot 23280 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $258.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. 20 Franc, 1897-B. NGC MS-63. Highly lustrous fields that are attractive to view." This type was struck 1897-1935 in large numbers and most dates are readily available today for their bullion value. A few 1897's were struck from Swiss mined gold and stamped with a tiny cross on the Swiss cross on the reverse; these "Gondo gold" twenty francs are extreme rarities.
Recorded mintage: 400,000, a common date.
Specification: 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold, .186 troy oz AGW.
