This specimen was lot 24987 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. 20 Francs, 1891-B. NGC MS-63. Good strike with soft satin luster." This Swiss twenty francs conforms to the standard of the Latin Monetary Union, where twenty francs = 6.45 g, 0.900 fine gold. Switzerland continued to use this standard even after France, its originator, abandoned it after World War One. This type was struck 1886-96; an earlier issue (KM 31.1) of 1883 had a reeded edge.
