Sincona sale 70, lot 3818

This specimen was lot 3818 in Sincona sale 70 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 160 CHF (about US$211 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND | Confederation. 10 Rappen 1876 B, Bern. NGC MS65. (Switzerland, ten rappen of 1876, Bern mint, gem uncirculated.)"

This is a somewhat scarce date of a type issued 1850-51, 1871-76. The type is not rare but is seldom seen compared to the copper-nickel Helvetia type (KM 27) issued 1878-2015.

Recorded mintage: 1,962,000.

Specification: billon, 2.37 g, 19.23 mm diameter.
