This specimen was lot 31040 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $881.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Oscar II gold 20 Kronor 1873-ST, MS65 NGC. Lightly toned and original, a superior example of this first date of the 20 Kronor series. Ex: "Colonel" E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman / B.G. Johnson." After the reform of 1873, all of the miscellaneous gold denominations (ducats, etc.) were dropped in favor of ten and twenty kronor. This twenty kronor was struck 1873-99 in three closely related types: KM 733 (shown here), struck 1873-76, KM 744, struck 1876-77, and KM 748, struck 1877-99. The type was rare until the Bank of Sweden divested its gold holdings in the mid 1990's.

Recorded mintage: 115,000.

Specification: 8.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, 23 mm diameter.
