This specimen was lot 31004 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $646.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Oscar I 2 Skilling 1845, MS64 Red Brown NGC. Small bust variety. A choice piece with virtually full mint luster and excellent eye appeal. There are two small spots on the reverse at the top by the rim. These large copper types are rarely seen with such abundant mint red. Ex: 'Colonel' E.H.R. Green; Green Estate' Partnership of Eric P Newman/B.G. Johnson" In the reform of 1830, the sixth and third riksdalers were dropped for eighth, quarter and half riksdalers. The skilling, formerly 1/48 riksdaler, became 1/128 riksdaler and new one-sixth, one-third, half, two-thirds, one, two and four skilling issued in copper. The smallest silver denomination, the 1/32 riksdaler, was four skilling. Oscar succeeded to the throne in 1844 and his bust replaced that of Carl XIV on all the denominations. This bust was modified on the two skilling in 1845 but both the large head (KM 660) and small head (shown here) are known for the date.

Recorded mintage: 120,000 (including KM-660).
