This specimen was lot 49442 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2026), where it sold for $456. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 1/6 Riksdaler, 1801-OL. Stockholm Mint. Gustav IV Adolf. NGC MS-63. Tied for finest certified of the date with one other example on the NGC population report. Ex: Eric P. Newman." This denomination was introduced in 1776 to replace the 16 öre (KM 513). It must have been a success, as it was struck in large numbers. This style was struck 1800-09. It was accompanied by the similar one third riksdaler.
Recorded mintage: 420,126, a fairly common date.
Specification: 6.25 g, 0.691 fine silver, 26 mm diameter, plain edge.
