Sweden 1800-OL ducat Fr-77
This specimen was lot 1273 in Stack's Bowers sale of the L. E. Bruun Collection (Copenhagen, September 2024), where it sold for €38,400 (about US$42,555 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Alluring Gustav IV Ducat with Star Designation from NGC, SWEDEN. Ducat, 1800. Stockholm Mint. Gustav IV Adolf. NGC MS-66★. Mintmaster: Olof Lidijn (OL). Engraver: Lars Grandel. Stunning and engrossing, this Ducat displays a brilliant luster that is devoid of handling or any marks of consequence. When holding this piece, one cannot help but be struck by its overwhelming beauty, and this feeling is confirmed by the special "star" grade modifier. Ex: Countship of Brahesminde Collection (Private Sale - 1922)."
This type was struck 1799-1809 and is scarce, as are most Swedish ducats.
