This specimen was lot 25168 in Heritage sale 3016 (Orlando, FL, January 2012), where it sold for $2,990. The catalog description[1] noted, "Frederick I Riksdaler 1740-HM, MS63 NGC, a splendid coin with the perfect blend of aged silvery gray patina and full mint brilliance. The details are nicely struck and there are no adjustment marks or other flaws. Just a gorgeous coin and certainly very rare in this select quality." This type is recorded for 1738-48 and is among the more available Swedish thalers of the eighteenth century.
