Stack's Bowers November 2025 Collectors Choice sale, lot 78497

This specimen was lot 78497 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2025), where it sold for $660. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. Riksdaler, 1725. Stockholm Mint. Frederik I. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, AU Details. From the Richard August Collection." In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = 1 mark and 96 öre = 1 riksdaler. This type was struck in several varieties 1723-38 and is the first reasonably common Swedish thaler.

Recorded mintage: 8,856.

Specification: 29.25 g, 0.878 fine silver, 41-42 mm diameter, edge lettered MANIBUS NE LAEDAR AVARIS.
