This specimen was lot 11352 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €264 (about US$275). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 8 Mark, 1695 - AS. Stockholm Mint. Karl XI. NGC EF Details--Graffiti. Graffiti, the date 1737 scratched into obverse. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1692-96 in sufficient numbers to be the most common eight mark of the seventeenth century. The striking of riksdalers resumed in the eighteenth century after the Great Northern War (1700-21). Eight öre made a mark and six mark made a riksdaler.
