This specimen was lot 35154 in Heritage sale 3094 (Chicago, August 2021), where it sold for $4,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden: Carl IX Riksdaler 1603 VF35 NGC, Stockholm mint. Lightly patinated in silver over surfaces exhibiting balanced circulation wear, with strong remnants of mint luster expressed through the fields, particularly to the reverse. Boldly struck, with resulting strong details remaining post-circulation, these accentuated by soft elements of embracing tone." This type is noted for 1601 and 1603 and is the first Swedish riksdaler of the seventeenth century. Varieties exist in the spelling of "IHEHOVA".
