This specimen was lot 31798 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $2,585. The catalog description[1] noted, "Johann III Riksdaler 1576 VF25 NGC, Stockholm mint. Alluring, steel-gray patina on this broad and impressive piece featuring the crowned and armored bust of Johann III shouldering a sword and holding an orb. The reverse depicts the standing, robed figure of Christ after resurrection. A wonderfully detailed early Ri[ks]daler example, scarcely seen in today's marketplace." Davenport lists this for 1569-87, 1591-92.

Specification: 29.25 g, 0.875 fine silver, 40-44 mm diameter.
