This specimen was lot 1210 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $84. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN: Johan III, 1568-1592, AR 1/2 öre, 1579, lovely original toning, PCGS graded EF45." Johan III was the second son of Gustaf Vasa and was Duke of Finland from 1556-1563 when he was imprisoned for opposing his brother, Eric XIV. After the demise of Erik, Johan III became King in 1568 and ruled until his death in 1592. One mark was eight öre.
