This specimen was lot 34263 in Heritage sale 3106 (New York, January 2023), where it sold for $4,800. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden: Gustav Vasa Mark 1556 AU53 NGC, Stockholm mint, mm Cross, full date under three shields, star stops on obverse, annulet stops on reverse. A significant rarity from the Swedish series boasting an unpublish obverse and reverse combination. Cloaked in ash gray patination with somewhat silty crevices, the reverse shield slightly soft with wisps from circulation; regardless with an appreciably expressive portrait of the King and fully legible legends, and desirable as such." Gustav is considered the founder of modern Sweden. One mark was eight öre. The marks of the early seventeenth century were 4.93 g, 0.021 fine silver.

Specification: 11.84 g, 0.500 fine silver, 35 mm diameter, this specimen 11.92 g.
