This specimen was lot 11235 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €65 (about US$68). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 1/2 Öre, 1561. Stockholm Mint. Erik XIV. NGC VF Details--Damaged. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." Erik XIV (1543-77) succeeded his father Gustav Vasa in 1560. After displaying symptoms of insanity, he was deposed by his half brother John III in 1568 and spent the rest of his life in prison. This type was struck in substantial quantities 1561 and 1563-68. One daler was four mark or 32 öre.
