This specimen was lot 4886 in Goldberg sale 65 (Los Angeles, September 2011), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden. Daler, 1545. Gustaf I Vasa, 1521-1560. Half figure with sword and orb right with shield below. Reverse: Standing Savior. Toned. NGC graded Extremely Fine, Details (Tooled)." Davenport lists this type, along with closely related dalers, for 1542-50 (Dav-8697 and -8698) and 1559 (Dav-8699). This issue shares the mintage with the very similar Dav-8698, which has the obverse punctuated with dots and flowers at Christ's feet.
