This specimen was lot 2146 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $1,320. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS EAST INDIES: AE keping, AH1251 (1835), from North Sumatra (Tanah Malayu - "Land of the Malays"), slab erroneously labelled Pridmore-39, one-year type, PCGS graded MS63 BN, R, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." The British East India Company was very active in Sumatra in the 1820's and 1830's, striking this token among others. Earlier ones (KM Tn1, Tn2, Tn3) had the EIC arms on the reverse. It was probably made in Birmingham by Boulton and Watt.
Recorded mintage: unknown, but proofs exist.
Specification: copper.
