This specimen was lot 74498 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2022), where it sold for $216. The catalog description[1] noted, "MALAYA. British East India Company. Singapore Merchants issues. Fighting Cock series: C. R. Read. Copper Keping Token, AH 1250 (1835). Soho (Birmingham) Mint. NGC AU-55. This Cock has only been delicately handled with light friction on the head of the bird and is engagingly attractive." This type is listed by the SCWC under Netherlands East Indies. This token could also be filed under Malaya or the Straits Settlements as it was intended to circulate throughout the region.
