This specimen was lot 58487 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $1,140. The catalog description[1] noted, "SUDAN. 50 Pounds, AH 1400 (1979). PCGS PROOF-66 Deep Cameo. Struck to commemorate the 1,400th Anniversary of Islam." This denomination was used for various NCLT's 1978-81. It was accompanied by a silver five pounds (KM 80) and a gold 25 pounds (KM 82). Patterns exist of this design, struck in silver, copper and aluminum.

Recorded mintage: 3,000 plus 2,000 proofs.

Specification: 17.50 g, 0.917 fine gold, 0.5159 troy oz AGW.
