This specimen was lot 73245 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. 10 Cents, 1926. London Mint. PCGS MS-64+ Gold Shield. A wonderful example of the type, in near-Gem condition, with nicely original surfaces and full frosty luster." This ten cent piece is the next to final date of a type issued for the Straits Settlements during 1916-27. This type was originally 0.600 fine (KM 29, 1916-17), then 0.400 fine (KM 29a, 1918-20) then back to 0.600 fine (1925-27). This date is common in all grades. The Straits Settlements began as a miscellaneous group of trading stations in Southeast Asia and gradually developed into what is now Malaya.

Recorded mintage: 20,000,000 plus proofs.
