This specimen was part of lot 23181 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $230. The catalog description[1] noted, "A Mixed Nine Coin Grouping: ...50 Cents: 1898, 1903, and 1921 (two pieces). Coins grade Fine-AU. A Lot to be carefully studied." The type was struck in 1902-05 but is not common. This type was 13.57 g, 0.800 fine as noted below; the type of 1907-08 was 10.10 g, 0.900 fine and the type of 1920-21 shrank to 8.42 g, 0.500 fine silver.
Recorded mintage: 193,000 plus a few proofs.
