This specimen was lot 2584 in Stephen Album sale 45 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2023), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: Victoria, 1867-1901, AR 5 cents, 1878, an attractive mint state example! PCGS graded MS61." The type was struck in 1871-1901 after the Straits Settlements were made a separate crown colony and this date is scarce. Proofs exist.
Recorded mintage: 260,000 plus proofs.
Specification: 1.36 g, 0.800 fine silver, 15 mm diameter.
