This specimen was lot 24579 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $600. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. 10 Cents, 1878. London Mint. Victoria. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. A coin exhibiting natural gray toning with some bright frosty luster in the fields." The type was struck in 1871-1901 after the Straits Settlements were made a separate crown colony and this date is fairly common. Proofs exist.
Recorded mintage: 470,000 + proofs.
Specification: 2.71 g, 0.800 fine silver, reeded edge.
