This specimen was lot 1499 in Stephen Album sale 41 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: Victoria, 1867-1901, AE cent, 1875-W, very scarce mint mark and a lovely quality example with traces of original mint red! NGC graded MS64 BN. Struck by James Watt & Co., Soho Mint, Birmingham." The type was struck in 1872-78 and 1883 after the Straits Settlements were made a separate crown colony and this date is scarce. It was converted to bronze for the 1884 issue (KM 9a) and given a reeded edge for the 1889 issue (KM 16).
