This specimen was lot 23638 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2020), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. Cent, 1874. London Mint. Victoria. NGC EF-45 Brown. Above average for the type, with gentle even brown patina and no obnoxious marks." The type was struck in 1872-83 after the Straits Settlements were made a separate crown colony and is scarce in nice condition despite the very large mintage. It was converted to bronze for the 1884 issue (KM 9a) and given a reeded edge for the 1889 issue (KM 16).
