Steve Album sale 54, lot 1215

This specimen was lot 1215 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: Victoria, 1867-1901, AR 10 cents, 1871, a lovely bright lustrous mint state example! NGC graded MS63. On April 1, 1867 the Settlements became a British Crown colony, making the Settlements answerable directly to the Colonial Office in London instead of the government of British India based in Calcutta." This type was struck in 1871-1901 and many of the later dates are common but this one is scarce.

Recorded mintage: 248,000.
