This specimen was lot 73894 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2023), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Trade Tokens. Staffordshire. Leek. Copper 1/2 Penny Token, 1793. PCGS MS-62 Brown. Obverse: Winged caduceus supported by large package of goods; Reverse: Clasped hands over olive branch. RARE." Leek is a market town and civil parish in the county of Staffordshire (pop. 20,768 in 2011). It is an ancient borough and was granted its royal charter in 1214.
