This specimen was lot 23651 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2019), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAINT LUCIA. 500 Dollars, 1986. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo Gold Shield. Mirror-like surfaces with a flawless strike are evident on this commemorative produced to celebrate the visit of Pope John Paul II to Saint Lucia." This NCLT was struck to the standard of a British gold two 2 pounds. The coinage of this island in the Caribbean consists largely of NCLT's.
