Sincona sale 47, lot 2972

This specimen was lot 2972 in Sincona sale 47 (Zürich, May 2018), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$600 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SWITZERLAND, St. Gallen, Stadt und Kanton, Groschen 1790. FDC. Prachtexemplar. (canton of St. Gall, groschen of 1790. Uncirculated, Most attractive piece.)"

This was issued by the city, not the abbey, which ceased minting coins about 1782.
