This specimen was lot 1918 in Goldberg sale 106 (Los Angeles, September 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "Spain. 80000 Pesetas, 1989. Juan Car[lo]s I. Commemorates Discovery of America. Juan Carlos and Sofia facing each other. Reverse: Crowned busts of Ferdinand and Isabella facing each other. NGC graded Proof 67 Ultra Cameo." This NCLT was part of a set which included 40,000 ₧ (KM 844), 20,000 ₧ (KM 843), 10,000 ₧ (KM 842, gold, and KM 841, silver), 5000 ₧ (KM 840, gold, and KM 839, silver) and 2000 ₧ (KM 838, silver).
Recorded mintage: 5,583 + 6,994 proofs.
Specification: 27 g, 0.999 fine gold, 0.8672 ounce AGW.
