This specimen was lot 25826 in Heritage sale 3026 (Long Beach, October 2013), where it sold for $1,880. The catalog description[1] noted, "Carlos IIII 8 Reales 1802-CN Seville, MS62 NGC, fully lustrous with bold details and appealing original toning, faint adjustment marks on the reverse. An attractive piece with the look of a higher grade." It is one of a series minted in Spain 1792-1808 for Charles IV. The type is listed quite low in the SCWC but is very hard to find. It is among the last traditional pesos struck in Spain prior to the French invasion of 1808 which led to king Charles IV's abdication.
