Shown is a Spanish half escudo struck in 1755 at the Madrid mint. Assayer JB is recorded for the years 1748-1759. This specimen was auctioned by Marti Hervera in Barcelona, Spain, on May 3, 2011, where it sold for 130 euro (about US$215 including buyer's fees). The catalog description reads:
"1/2 Escudo. 1755. MADRID. J.B. (Pequeñas rayitas). MBC+. (1/2 escudo of 1755, Madrid mint, PJ, small scratches, choice very fine.)"
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 1.69 g, 0.917 fine gold, 0.0498 troy oz AGW.
