This specimen was part of lot 42640 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), which sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. Proof Set (8 Pieces), 1946. Pretoria Mint. George VI. All PCGS Certified. ...6) Penny. PCGS PROOF-66 RB. ...With original case of issue. From the Richard Margolis Collection." The penny was struck in South Africa 1923-60. This date is common.
