This specimen was lot 24553 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (Newport Beach, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $480. The catalog description[1] noted, "SOUTH AFRICA. Sovereign, 1925-SA. Pretoria Mint. PCGS MS-63 Gold Shield. A sharply struck Sovereign, dripping with luster. From the Collection of Richard Jewell." The Pretoria mint operated as a branch of the Royal mint, striking George V sovereigns 1923-32. The later type, struck 1929-32, has a slightly smaller bust than the earlier issues.
