Singapore 1989 5 dollars KM-74
This specimen was lot 3685 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $60. The catalog description[1] noted, "SINGAPORE: Republic, AR 5 dollars, 1989, Mass Rapid Transit issue, an extraordinary example, PCGS graded PF69 Deep Cameo." Singapore, today an independent city-state, was until 1948 part of the British colony of the Straits Settlements. It left the Federation of Malaysia in 1965 and commenced coinage in 1967. Another five dollars of 1989 promoted the Save the Children Fund (KM 77).
Recorded mintage: 60,000 plus 30,000 proofs in silver.
Specification: 20 g, copper-nickel, 33.5 mm diameter, reeded edge. The proofs are 20 g, 0.925 fine silver.
