This specimen was lot 72967 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Santa Ana, CA, May 2017), where it sold for $1,410. The catalog description[1] noted, "SEYCHELLES. 20 Rupees, 1983. NGC PROOF-67 ULTRA CAMEO. 5th Anniversary of Central Bank. RARE, mintage of only 50 pieces. Struck in gold. Hard mirror fields with frosted cameo devices." We assume that insiders were the lucky recipients of the gold issue of this obscure commemorative.

Recorded mintage: unknown but large number in copper-nickel plus 5,000 proofs in silver plus 50 proofs in gold.

Specification: KM 52: copper-nickel, 36 mm diameter; KM 52a: 19.44 g, 0.925 fine silver; KM 52b: 33.90 g, 0.917 fine gold.
