This specimen was issued by Seychelles as part of the F.A.O. series. It was accompanied by an aluminum cent (KM 17) featuring the head of a cow. Seychelles, an island group in the Indian Ocean, is better known for its export of cinnamon, copra and vanilla; one wonders why a cabbage plant is featured on the coin. This type was reissued in 1975.
Recorded mintage: 2,200,000.
Specification: aluminum, 18.5 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 18.
