This specimen was lot 34344 in Heritage sale 3098 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "Scotland: James VI (I) 30 Shillings 1583 VF20 NGC, Edinburgh mint. Fourth Coinage. Highly engaging, with sleek gloss with ample circulation and handling, layered in a dove-gray patina enhanced by peripheral iridescence. A charming example of a popular type." At the time of issue, the crown-size coin was forty shillings, making this issue equal to three-fourths of an English crown.
