The first specimen was lot 37410 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. Groat (8 Pence), ND (1583-90). Edinburgh Mint. James VI. PCGS Genuine--Environmental Damage, EF Details. From the Richard August Collection." The second specimen was lot 76221 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. Groat (8 Pence), ND (1583-90). Edinburgh Mint. James VI. PCGS VF-30." In England, a groat was fourpence; in Scotland eight pence. The first groats were struck by David II in the fourteenth century.

Specification: 1.81 g, 0.250 silver, 21 mm diameter.
