This specimen was lot 37395 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 10 Shillings, 1582. Edinburgh Mint. James VI. PCGS VF-30. Fourth Coinage. From the Richard August Collection." This type was struck 1582-84 and is marked "X S" (ten shillings). At the time of issue, the crown-size coin was forty shillings, making this issue equal to one fourth of an English crown or fifteen English pence.
