This specimen was lot 33273 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $3,600. The catalog description[1] noted, "SCOTLAND. 2/3 Ryal, 1567. Edinburgh Mint. James VI. PCGS AU-55. Without revaluation countermark. Exceptionally attractive and enchanting, this near-Mint minor dazzles with a sharp strike, charming amber-gray gunmetal toning, and clean, problem-free surfaces. Furthering its appeal that much more, some hints of brilliance emanate from the protected areas--an aspect that is sure to catch the gaze of numerous potential bidders. From the Richard August Collection." This type, struck in the name of James VI, also comes with a thistle countermark, raising its value 10% to 22 shillings.
