Schwarzenberg in 1789

This specimen was lot 1563 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 6,500 CHF (about US$7,890 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Schwarzenberg, Fürstentum. Adam Franz, 1703-1732. Taler 1729, Wien. Jahreszahl im Stempel aus 1728 geändert. Ausbeute. Mit der Signatur B (Philipp Christoph Becker, Stempelschneider in Wien). Münzmeister Joseph Ignaz Keibel. Sehr selten / Very rare. Vorzüglich-FDC. NGC MS62. Prachtvolle Erhaltung mit herrlicher Patina. (Austria, principality of Schwarzenberg, Adam Francis, 1703-32, thaler of 1729, Vienna mint, 1729/8 overdate, for the mines. Extremely fine-uncirculated, Beautiful condition with magnificent patina.)"

The SCWC also notes a ducat from this prince in 1729. The mint right was granted to the prince for his services to the emperor. Schwarzenberg was wedged between Wurzburg and Bayreuth and passed to Bavaria in 1806. The prince was accidentally shot by the emperor during a deer hunt. He was 51 years old.
